The Primary Division classes are for dancers ages 2 - 7 in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. These classes focus on motor skills, moving to music, an introduction to basic dance steps, creativity, imagination, and fun! Classes are based on age and no previous training is needed. Primary Division classes are labeled PD-1, PD-2 etc. PDJ, PDHH and PDT stand for Primary Division Jazz, Primary Division Hip Hop & Primary Division Tap.

Tap

PDT

Tap for Ages 4-6. PDT is designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.
Dress Code: Comfortable clothes that can easily be moved in, no jeans/pants that hang over shoes, black tap shoes with no heel (oxford style).  Tights will be required for our June performance.

Jazz

PDJ

Jazz for Ages 4-6. This class helps develop an enjoyment of music and movement. Basic jazz terms and steps are taught. There will also be emphasis on gross motor skills and creative movement.
Dress Code:
Girls:
Close fitting top, Black bike shorts or leggings, Black jazz shoes.  Tights will be required for our June performance.
Boys: Comfortable clothes that can easily be moved in, no jeans/pants that hang over shoes, Black jazz shoes.

Hip Hop

PDHH

Hip Hop for Ages 4-6. PDHH teaches rhythm, coordination, and balance through age-appropriate movements set to fun upbeat music.
Dress Code: Comfortable clothes that can be moved in (no jeans) and clean, non-marking tennis shoes that will only be used for Hip Hop

Ballet With Tap

PD-1

Ages 2-3. Ballet with tap - 45 minute class. One adult will accompany the child in class. This class is the perfect introduction to music and movement for the young child not ready to separate but ready to explore in a nurturing learning environment. The basic elements of dance are introduced with an emphasis on creative movement.
Dress Code:
Girls: Pink short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled, leather ballet slippers, black patent tap shoes.
Boys:  White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white full-soled leather ballet shoes, black tap shoes.

PD-2

Ages 3-4. Ballet with tap - 45 minute class. Students are introduced to basic ballet and tap vocabulary while exploring movement and music in a fun, creative way. Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening, and working with others

Girls: Pink short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled, leather ballet slippers, black patent tap shoes.
Boys:  White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white full-soled leather ballet shoes, black tap shoes.

PD-3

Ages 4-5, not in Kindergarten. Ballet with tap - 45 minute class. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in ballet and tap and explore their own creative movement styles through the use of imaginative music and games in a safe, positive environment. Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening, and working with others.
Dress Code:
Girls: Blue short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled leather ballet shoes and black patent tap shoes
Boys:  White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white full-soled leather ballet shoes, black tap shoes.

PD-4

Ages 5-6, in Kindergarten or above. Ballet with tap - 45 minute class. Basic listening skills and following directions are emphasized while learning the basic fundamentals of ballet and tap.
Dress Code:
Girls: Blue short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled leather ballet shoes and black patent tap shoes
Boys:  White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white full-soled leather ballet shoes, black tap shoes.

Ballet

PD-5

Ages 6-7. Ballet - 45 minute class. PD-5 dancers are introduced to more formal dance technique. This class will lay the foundation for correct, safe, and successful dancing in years to follow. Students will expand on the basic steps and terminology from PD-1 through PD-4 and continue to explore their own creative movement.

Girls: Lavender short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled leather ballet shoes.
Boys:  White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
