The Academy Division classes are for dancers ages 7 - 13 in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. These classes are designed to allow students the opportunity to explore a more serious dance experience. Academy Division classes emphasize correct technique, fundamentals and a familiarization of the dance vocabulary. We encourage students to take classes in multiple styles of dance.
Academy Division Ballet classes are labeled AD-1, AD-2 etc. ADJ, ADHH and ADT stand for Academy Division Jazz, Academy Division Hip Hop & Academy Division Tap.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a dynamic dance form with roots in street dance, African, Jazz, and other types of movement. It emphasizes rhythm, footwork, strength, and style presented in a high-energy positive environment.
ADHH
Ages 7+. Minimum 1 class per week
Dress Code: Comfortable clothes that can be moved in (no jeans) and clean, non-marking tennis shoes that will only be used for Hip Hop
Jazz
These classes teach jazz dance technique, terminology and style with an emphasis on proper technique, alignment and movement quality.
ADJ - 1
Ages 7+. Minimum 1 class per week.
Dress Code:
Girls: Close fitting top, Black bike shorts or leggings, Black jazz shoes. Tights will be required for our June performance.
Boys: Comfortable clothes that can easily be moved in, no jeans/pants that hang over shoes, Black jazz shoes.
Enrollment in ADJ-2 is by teacher placement only.
ADJ-2
Minimum 1 class per week.
Dress Code:
Girls: Close fitting top, Black bike shorts or leggings, Black jazz shoes. Tights will be required for our June performance.
Boys: Comfortable clothes that can easily be moved in, no jeans/pants that hang over shoes, Black jazz shoes.
Tap
Tap students are taught rhythms, timing, and leg/foot coordination.
ADT
Ages 7+. Minimum 1 class per week.
Dress Code:
Comfortable clothes that can easily be moved in, no jeans/pants that hang over shoes, black tap shoes with no heel (oxford style).
Tights will be required for our June performance.
Ballet
Ballet instills balance, strength, and coordination. Progress is determined by the technical level achieved in class, each year building on the previous knowledge.
AD-1
Ages 7+ Dancers either moving up from PD-5 or dancers with no previous training. Minimum 1 ballet class per week.
Dress Code:
Girls: Lavender short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled leather ballet shoes.
Boys: White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
AD-2
Ages 7+ with prior PSB Academy Division training. Minimum 1 ballet class per week.
Dress Code:
Girls: Lavender short-sleeved leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink full-soled, leather ballet slippers.
Boys: White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
Enrollment in AD-3 through AD-5 is by teacher placement only.
AD-3
Minimum 2 ballet classes per week.
Dress Code:
Girls: Capezio #202 or Theatricals #N5501 (#N5501c for child sizes) Burgundy tank leotard, pink tights, & pink, full-soled leather ballet slippers.
Boys: White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
AD-4
Minimum 2 ballet classes per week. Dancers need to enroll in a 1 hour class and a 1.25 hour class. By teacher placement only.

Girls: Capezio #202 (#202c for child sizes) Navy tank leotard, pink tights and pink full-soled leather ballet shoes.
Boys: White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
AD-5
Minimum 3 ballet classes per week.
Dress Code:
Girls: Capezio #202 (#202c for child sizes) Hunter Green tank leotard, pink tights & pink, full-soled leather ballet shoes.
Boys: White crew neck T-shirt, black bike shorts or full-footed tights, white socks, black or white ballet shoes.
